scripted television = reality

To me, a good comedy is more than a stream of jokes. A good comedy is memorable when there is good writing, strong character development, and an encouraging message.

The story naturally begets a moral when the writing hits close to home. When the story hits close to home, you react as one of the character reacts. When you react to situations like one of the characters, you feel like the story was written for you. If you like the characters and the story, you'll feel that the encouraging message stems from reality. A good story can help you appreciate your life from a different perspective. Each viewing reminds me of something that I have forgotten about my life. Here are my favorite comedies, most of which I could watch repeatedly.

Arrested Development
Everybody Loves Raymond
The Office
Scrubs
Seinfeld
Friends
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Malcolm in the Middle
Frasier
King of Queens
