music, movement, and needles

High frequency updates were a thing of the past, and summary updates are the posts of the future.

I give to you the highlights of the first half of 2009.

I went for acupuncture last week. It's scary before they insert the needle, it hurts as it goes in, and it's difficult to relax when you have 50 needles in you. I recommend it! Acupuncture is one of those experiences I always thought about trying, and put off because I didn't know enough about it. I still don't know the entirety of how it works, but I do feel better than I did before the session.

I learned some breakdancing moves. There's something about the dance form that's freeing and powerful. My learning breakdancing is influenced by its emergence through movies and television shows.

I'm taking fencing lessons. I'm interested in it because it is a technical sport, with systems to learn and skills to develop. It's also a physically demanding sport, requiring proper posture, patience, and precision.

I'm playing table tennis and badminton again. And last week I played ultimate frisbee. I love it when I have the opportunity to be active. Thank you for the summer!

I'm using Eyetoy: Kinetic as a workout program. It helps by providing short term goals to achieve while working out. It's a substitute for a fitness instructor who motivates you to do better, and challenges you when you're not doing the best that you can.

I'm a member of the Young Leader's Breakfast, which is a place to share stories and experiences with others in leadership positions. It feels good to have a place where your stories can help others in their situations.

I'm in a soul music phase. Earth, Wind, and Fire, and James Brown. Soul music just makes you want to dance!

Congratulations to Victor and Cindy, and their son Evan!
